suspension bridge - NO CONVERGENCE

Hi.

I am trying to model a suspension bridge (attached) and simply cannot get the model to converge. I have tried changing the analysis parameters and cable definitions. Nothing so far has worked.

Could somebody give me a hint how to solve this problem.

Cheers,

Cornelia

This model is way too strange!!!

1- Bridge is on XY plane , gravity applied on -Y . Ok ,but not common

2- Main columms above deck level are UC 305x305x97 and are 150m long!!!

3- Transversal girders (UB305x165x40 and columms below deck have no material assigned

4- Main deck girders are  rectangles of solid steel 4,72m x 1,00m !!!

I guess you have to correct lots of things before thinking about convergence!!

Hi.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The example is just a theoretical study of performance.

Depised all of the points you mentioned.

How does one get a nonlinear analysis to converge in robot.

I have never experienced this problem in Abqua.
