I have been looking at Robot for several years now. I tried the demo in 2011 and 2012. I am a long-time user of Autodesk products (Civil 3D, Architecture, ADR) and I am attracted by Robot because it is an Autodesk product now.
Each time I look at Robot I get the impression that not much is happening in development and that Robot is neglected by Autodesk. There are no updated manuals or tutorials or support or training seminars and the GUI has no relation to other Autodesk products and does not have the quality feel of Architecture.
Autodesk has a huge opportunity to take the lead among the likes of RISA, Ram, S-Frame, and SAP2000 with a comprehensive user friendly structural design/analysis package that integrates seamlessly with Revit and Autocad. For my part I am looking for some leadership and innovation and committment from Autodesk to this venture.
Please implement the design codes for New Zealand to compliment/ complete the existing code combinations (seismic etc). Especially as I believe Australian code development is being suspended with a view of adopting NZS codes (?). eg NZS1170...
Can you implement the reinforcement calculations for a "horizontal cut"? in core walls, tanks and pools
The cut position can be selected by user, and generate the drawings for the corner
with the posibility to add a inner chamfer?
it is easier to assign Reinforcement to the RC section so after analysis RSA can start design same as steel.
defining RC column C1 250x300 rectangle section and there will be Tab to enter design parameters (reinforcement, stirrups,..) so after running the model I can go and start designing immediatly and see failing ratios
I guess it must not matter to most people since I don't see it in the wish list already but...
It is a little unsettling to see nonstandard english language and terminology, like "Bar" for beam. In the western hemisphere at least, a steel "bar" is a deformed steel rod used in concrete reinforcement. Seeing "bar" makes me wonder how many other aspects of Robot maybe don't match up to US codes and literature. Just sayin...
