Please put back the EXPERT add on for the English package with the Retaining wall design, piles and pile cap design. this was very usefull. I don't know french so it is hard to install the french version and deal with it.

Now this option is possible for French codes only. It would be great to implement general eurocode for wind loads (EVS-EN 1991-1-4:2005) for such calculation option.

Dynamic Wind capabilities

In some codes wind load is divided in two parts - dynamic and static. 

For example, in Russian Codes, the dynamic part of wind load depends on: static load, masses and natural frequency. 
Unfortunatelly, Robot hase no capabilities to calculate dynamic wind load automatically.

Quite long slabs on grade has irregular foundation pressure, thus they have to have irregularal elastic coefficient to calculate forces in slabs correctly.

Unfortunately, right now Robot has no capabilities to set non-constant elastic coefficient for the slabs.

GROUP defining OBJECT PROPERTIES

Currently you can add bars to a group which is very useful to select those bars after. But if you want to change some properties such us the material, the section, the release or whatever, you have to do it one by one. I mean, select the bars, then change the section, after change the material, after change the relase...

 

In my opinion, would be very useful the posibility of make a kind of "MASTER GROUP" which not only save the selection of the bars but also all kind of properties so, changing the property in the group you change it authomatically for all the bars belonging to that group.

That would be much faster to change and review.

 

Likewise for nodes.

General Perfomance

Working on my last project (it's an concrete structure, about 150 000 nodes and 170 000 FE-s) I was extremely annoyed by Robot Str 2013 general performance. For example, changing an load value is operation with time consumption not less that half of minute  on quite modern hardware (core i7 etc.). Changing values in tables is not much quicker...

 

I understand that you can recommend to use diaphagms instead shell etc, but in general - performance of Robot is not the best one, I can say the worst one. Now it is 2013 year and yes, sometimes we have to analyse and calculate models with more than 3 bars...

 

Here I do not speak of calculating time, meshing time - it's only problem of general performance, for example, changing load values in large scale models. So, my Idea is to optimize code (I'm fully understand that it can take a lot of time) to make Robot works much quicker.

Please implement the design codes for New Zealand to compliment/ complete the existing code combinations (seismic etc). Especially as I believe Australian code development is being suspended with a view of adopting NZS codes (?). eg NZS1170...

It's bad that Robot doesn't have an option to display diagram of requred shear reinforcement area (stirrups) in RC beams and columns.

Now, it's just able to show stirrup spacing as a diagram.

Model branching in Robot

Problem: In some cases it is desirable with different parameters for different analysis types in a structure. Examples could be:

  • A structure where you want different releases in the static model than in the earthquake model
  • A structure where you want different load to mass conversions for different cases

Currently, I often find myself saving different instances of a model. This means that changing geometry becomes time-consuming as each instance must be updated.

 

Solution: Allowing the model to branch, so that eg. one geometric model can be the parent of models with different material properties/loads/masses/analysis types.

am inquiring about the possibility of applying fluctuating wind loads using spectral analysis? If that is not a viable option, are there any other ways to model fluctuating wind loads in the frequency domain using Autodesk Robot?

It is important for some design activities. Robot 2014 shows envelope for combination but doesn't show a table or list of Max and min of all combinations.

It would be very grateful if were possible to show interaction diagrams for walls and to configure the reinforcement.

API access to Phases

I get the impression that phases aren't really used by anyone in "real life", but I want to! But I can't! Because, so far, the API has absolutely no access to phases, a fact that is a real shame.

Le module de ferraillage des murs en béton armé n'intègre pas la norme EN 1998-1. Il serait bon d'y songer car à compter du 01/01/2014 tous les projets devront être impérativement calculés à l'Eurocode 8 en France.

 

Dans les structures contreventées par des murs en béton armé, lorsque ceux-ci sont nombreux, il est souvent difficile de procéder à une étude exhaustive du système de contreventement. La réalisation d'une coupure pour obtenir les efforts réduits en pied de chaque mur pour son calcul en flexion composée est laborieuse lorsque le projet comprend une multitude de murs.

 

Il pourrait être imaginer une réprésentation graphique indiquant les voiles nécessitant un renforcement. En effet, compte tenu des dispositions constructives minimales (clause 5.4.3.5.3(4) NF EN1998-1/NA), il est alors possible de déterminer une capacité résistante du mur à la flexion composée (Mrd, Vrd, Nrd). On compare sa valeur résistante à sa valeur sollicitante sous combinaisons d'actions sismiques. Si Mrd < Med alors un renforcement des chaînages d'extrémités est nécessaire et peut-être visualisé par une code couleur (ex: rouge si il est sa capacité résistante n'est pas satisfaite).

Le calcul des actions, dans cette nouvelle version 2014, n'est toujours pas abouti.

Il manque:

- la prise en compte du Cdir par secteurs angulaires.

- la prise en compte de plusieurs catégories de terrain selon l'orientation du vent par rapport au faces du bâtiment.

et bien d'autres choses qui pourraient permettre une meilleure optimisation des calculs (exemple en pièce jointe)

 

Vous pouvez me contacter si vous avez besoin d'aide car j'ai déjà développé quelques outils permettant de le faire.
