I notice that when modelling a column chain extending into a RC basement wall that there is a singularity problem (high internal forces) in the panel at the boundary of the column and basement wall element at top of basement level and also (from a previous enquiry) that RSA does not recognize columns embedded in walls. My question is what would be the proper way to model such a scenario?
Do you mean the situation like shown below or something else?
It would be the best to send the model.
Regards,
Exactly!! When modelled as you have shown in a seismic situation, abnormally high internal forces are recorded at the column wall interface in the panel
Can you send the model?
Reducing size by saving without results with a new name and then compressing to ZIP.
Regards,
Thank you for the file but when trying to calculate it (both "out of the box" and after freezing all FE meshes) verification reports incoherent mesh error and analysis cannot be run.
It seems that the model is different than the model you calculated and observed anomalies of results.
The name of file suggests that it was opened in repair mode. This operation results in restoring default job preferences, so if job preferences of your calculated model were different than default ones then the model you sent me can have different job preferences than the original ones - for instance in relation to using kinematic constarints or iterative adjustment of FE meshes, ignoring verification errors, etc.
Ffor your calculated model with results can you use "Save as" with different file name and selecting as file type "ROBOT - without results (*.rtd)". Then please compress to ZIP. It will guarantee that when calculating this model I will receive the same behavior and results as yours.
Can you also mention in which location have you observed abnormal values of forces and for which components of internal forces was it observed?
Thank you,
Yes I observed the mesh inconsistency error with the file I sent you and corrected it. I will resend shortly
compressed ( zip) file size is 1600 kb. Any other way I can send you the file?
Hi,
I will send you private message with transfer info.

Did you get a proper answer? I'm experiencing a similar issue.
PLease send us the file and write where to look at.
Hi, sorry for late answer.
I managed to correct my issue. It was a rookie mistake but my lower column node wasn't attached to my slab and caused unstability type 2 in my upper column node.
