I have been reading the documentation and the forum on non linear analysis - I just wanted to post up here and check that I have summarised correctly:
- When using tension only elements (ie cables in my case) the analysis type is forced to 'Static-Nonlin' to account for this behaviour. However, this will not take any account of revisions to the geometry (ie deformations) due to the applied loads.
- If I then press 'parameters' and check 'non-linear analysis' this will then cause re-analysis due to global deformation and associated re-distribution of forces.
- If I select 'P-delta' individual member actions are accounted for and can be read off if I introduce a series of mid member nodes.
Do I have that about right?
