Hysteritic Damping Model

Does anyone know how to implement a hysteritic damping model?

Or, does anyone know how to run a dynamic analysis on a model and then have a hesteritic option or an option where the striffness of the structure decays with iterations?

Hi Tony,

attached very simple example of modeling hysteretic effects using elastoplastic bars and nonlinear time history analysis.

Below the diagrams of some displacements in time and displacement-force hysteresis curves made for this model.

Note: when using such approach the elastoplastic elements should be very simple and in small amount (where really necessary). Modelling many elastoplastic bars in flexural state will surely cause convergence problems in time history during unloading.
