General steel connections

I am designing a steel structure, see attachment. I want to design the connections marked with red, but with the tube truss connection, I have to define 2 diagonals, including chord and post. Is there a way to define the connections in mention? It is RHS-RHS and RHS-HEA connections.

That should be possible.

How did you create that connection? If I try to create connection from selected bars i get an error.

The connection algorithm has got some restriction regarding supported section types and their orientation in the space. I'll try to check what the possible reason can be if you attach the file.

The HEA section (chord) has to be 'vertical' with posts being connected to the flange rather than the web.

So if I use RHS instead of HEA columns, I will be able to design all the connections in Robot?

I'm not sure if all but some should be possible. Mind that you would need to move the support (slightly up or down) from the connection node to create it.

Does the gusset plate connection support anyting else than U or L profiles?

No, it dos not. What kind of profiles would you like to use?

I would like an RHS with a plate slotted into it which then is bolted to a gusset plate.

I have added this request to the wish list.

Great Idea, of course. 🙂

But I think it should be better if you will digonally cut the eadges.

I hope it will gives you a nice and reliable design. 🙂

Thanks!
