Differiential shortening affect on taller buildings? Help Please

Dear Team,

I have been trying to model a RC structure in Robot and have encountered axial shortening affect in results. In my previous message (Load distribution warning), there was a problem between load transfer between slabs and columns. I am aware of a function in robot known as “Phase structure” and want to enquire if it does the job of axial shortening affect in taller buildings. As you might be aware of your competitors (CSI- Etabs) incorporate the capability of modelling the taller buildings taking into count of differential axial shortening (DAS). Please see attached file of one of their document on axial shortening affect on taller buildings. I am trying to achieve similar results using Robot structural. I have read other threads in robot community forum regarding axial shortening and Phase structures. I’ve used the phase structure method in Robot and deem that it is not correct method to use for axial shortening effect? Please advise if robot takes into count of axial shortening affect on taller buildings.

My company has a full year subscriptions with Autodesk and time to time our staff get training from Robobat and Excitec on robot structural analysis and other design packages. Would it be wise to contact Robobat/Excitect directly to enquire relevant information on differential shortening affect (DAS) on taller buildings or would you be able to provide preliminary information on if robot can actually deal with DAS? I am aware it’s all same company but I find it easier to post a question in forums due to quicker reply to queries I anticipated in past.  If yes, then I can advise my IT department to arrange training session with Robotbat/Excitect on DAS on taller building?

I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide on this matter and thank you for reading this message.

Thanks

Zeshan

The functionality similar to DAS can be obtained in "Phase structures" in Robot applying dead loads only to the highest story in each phase.
