The reinforcement designer will output required reinforcement as mm2/m which is based on the reinforcement being in one layer with a specified cover. If the required reinforcement is very high it may be required to use 2, 3, 4, or more layers of reinforcement.
Is there a way this can be accommodated in Robot?
Otherwise, do you have any advice on how to get around it, in areas where high reinforcement ratio's are required the crack width calculations will not be correct if the reinforcement is placed in more than one layer as specified.

I am afraid not.
For the RC Slab and RC Member theoretical reinforcement modules :
If after the initial check the area of reinforcement is excessive for a single layer you can try to increase the cover so that it stands for the center of the gravity of two (or more) layers of reinforcement in order to reduce the arm of forces used for the theoretical area of reinforcement calculations.
For the RC Beam module: the arrangement of reinforcement in more than one layer is fully supported.
