Canadian S16-09 steel verification

Hello,

Please see member 4 in the attachment, Flange = plastic, web = plastic, class section = plastic.

Why Mry was calculated whit S (like class 3 (slender)) instead of Z (class 1 (plastic))?

When I change Fy 300 MPa to Fy = 350 MPa the calculating is good

Note: section class it’s the same for Fy=350 or Fy=300

Thanks

David

When the Cantilever in the LTB type dialog is set

Robot assumes Mry = S *fy

My knowledge of S16 is limited but I have found such provision in 13.6.(d)

Does it mean that in such case the elastic capacity should be used as it is done now in Robot? Or shall this be changed in the program?

Thank you.

My apologizes for the delay,
I read a lot, but there are nothing to confirm we will use S instead Z.
My conclusion for the clause 13.6(d) is:
1. The lateral and torsional restraint at the supports and tip of the cantilever are taken account when we setup the lateral bucking type and lateral buckling length coefficient for the upper and lower flange.
2. The loading conditions are taken account by the buckling length coefficient also.
3.  The flexibility of the back span is account by the continuity of the beam over support.
Then I think Mry does be calculate according to clas of section, in this case clas 1 (plastic)
Thanks,

David
