linked RVT file cannot be selected

I have inserted an RVT file into my project but I am unable to select it to move or temporarily hide it.  any thouhts on how to correct this?

I'm assuming that you're using Revit 2014, in which case there are tools in the bottom right corner that supplement/filter the user's selectable objects. One of them controls whether Link are selectable or not.
