Revit Server with Inventor, Revit & Plant3D collaboration

Hi All,

We are engineering consultency. We are using Revit, Inventor, FDS & Plant 3D for our different dipartments for different purposes. Now we are planning to collaborate our engineering such as all departments will work on the same model, SIMULTANEOUSLY. Some of them will be working with Inventor, at the same time some of them will be working on Revit & Plant 3D. We generally do our same job part-wise in different geographically distributed brach offices.

Now if we want to do 3D engineering with different Autodesk verticals at the same time with all the offices for the same project, can we use revit server for this collaboration? Does Revit Server supports Inventor / FDS /Plant 3D models simulteniously with Revit? We are planning to deploy Vault in our Revit Server for revision controlling. Is it possible?

Concept is, we will use Revit Server for the same model, some of them will be working in Navisworks for clash checking, Plant 3D for piping, Inventor for library built up & part designing & Revit for other works at the same time in the same model. Is it possible?

Please help.

Regards,

Soumen

Revit Server only stores workshared Revit project files.

Regarding Vault, I found the following video with information on Revit Integration with Vault:

I'm beginning to think that it's not always necessary to have models from other disicplines referenced directly into your model.  If you think about it, wouldn't you have a view with the referenced disciplines visible, and then a working view with only your discipline visible?  If so, then why not use Navisworks to bring togethor all your models?  Simply have both programs running at once with a live link from each model into Navisworks.  Navisworks 2014 will read native REVIT files, AutoCAD models (P3D), and Inventor files directly.

Really, all this means is thinking of the Navisworks pane as just another view in your platform - AutoCAD Plant 3D, REVIT, or Inventor.

Of course, if you must bring another file format in - not a problem, it may just require a few more steps, and I think you'll find you only need to do that from time to time.
