Hi,
I'm looking at using RS2014 to provide a basic rebar plan for a small concrete weir along with material quantities. I'm not sure if I'm doing this most effectively and would appreciate any guidance. The attached show a simple test file (the actual structure is a bit more complex). To make the concrete, I just model an extruded mass in place as a structural foundation. Then to add rebar, I sketch the hoops in place, and add straight dowels perpendicular. Is this the best way? Could someone point me to a good tutorial for this sort of thing?
Some specific questions:
- how can I modify the hooks on the rebar to be different from 90 or 180 degrees?
- how can I draw overlapping rebar on the hoops?
- how can I get the array of perpendicular rebar to snap to the rebar cover boundary of the concrete, and then the rebar hoop to snap to the perpendicular bars?
- I can get a schedule of the quantities (volume of steel), but don't know how to apply density and cost factors so that these appear in the schedule.
- Instead of adding the arrays of horizontal rebar, is there someway to attach area mesh to this sort of shape?
Any help or suggestions much appreciated
Thanks
- Mick

Thank you for your posting.
Q1. To modify hooks of the structural rebars,
Q2. Draw overlapping rebar on the hoops
Could you give us more explanation? Screenshot, maybe?
Q3. Array of perpendicular rebar to snap to the rebar cover boundary of the concrete and hoop
Q4. Schedule of the quantities (Volume of steel, according to density and cost)
If you have set the material for the Rebar Type, you can set the material properties in Material Browser.
Regarding cost, you can schedule cost by Types. To use this cost parameter, you might have to create a shared parameter to calculate the total cost.
Q5. Area mesh to custom shape structural
Area reinforcement and Fabric rebar can be placed on Wall or Floor elements.
Thank you.
Cheers Yuri, I think that covers it - my question 2 was related to the hooks - which you answered.
Thanks for the detailed reply
