Projection vs. Cut lineweight

What is the difference between Projection & Cut lineweight?
I originally thought that projection would be anything seen beyond (i.e. in elevation) and cut would be anything cut through (i.e. in section), but this does not seem to be the case.

The "cut" linestyle is used when the element intersects the view cut plane. All views have a cut plane, even plans and elevations, so the simple distinction between views is not really accurate.

Does that help?

Joe
