Hello,
Anybody know why the beams on this T shaped column are doing the following?
They seem to be joined, yet they stop short of the central area of the column, where they should end. Unjoining them, or using the extend/trim command doesn't seem to have any effect. It seems that Revit is taking the external face as the end point for the beam, instead of the internal one.
It occurs to me that if I take the beam from side to side (instead of using 2 separate beams) and force it to intersect the column, it should take care of the problem. But, that solution aside, is there some parameter that can be altered in this case to make the beams join where they're supposed to?
Setback is always calculated from the bounding box of the element into which the shortened element is joined.
For 2015 Revit release new functionality was introduced to handle such cases.
The command is available on the contextual tab for structural framing elements.
When a structural framing element is selected, then two new buttons are visible.
Change Reference changes the reference face for Setback.
