location revit models on multiple revit servers

Hello

 

I  have a question about revit server.
I am working by an installation company.
We have a revit file from a construction company as a linked file under our own installation drawing.
The file from de construction company is placed on there own revit server 5km from our company.
Our installation drawing is placed on our revit server.
Is this correct?
If I open the drawing then I must wait 10 minutes before i can start with my work.
is this normal?

and if i click on the link file and than click on reload, than it will take almost one hour.

is there no faster way?

THe issue is most likely that your machine is reaching across the WAN to reload the linked file. If you ping the server with the linked file from your workstation, what is the ping time?

One thing I would do, is to set your server as an accelerator, and keep a local copy of the linked file there. It should load faster that way.
