View Filter by Comment wont show the pattern override unless insulation is on

I am trying to visibly filter my project through the comments parameter.  It will only override the pattern while there is insulation on the duct.  In the filter menu i have all the catagories that i want the filter to influance checked.

Have you tried duplicating a view, removing all of the filters on that view, then adding just the one visibilty filter via comment that you are trying to use? That might help track down if there are other filters overriding your comment filter.
