Structural model corrupts MEP model...

We have a Revit MEP model that we have linked in the architectural model
with no problems. Then we have received a structural model. When we link in
this model and go to the Revit Links tab in the visibility graphics and
change from By Host View to By Linked View we receive the following message:
"To allow fill colors to display properly, the view has been switched to
hidden line mode". We select OK and are able to see the structural elements.
So far so good.

However, once our MEP model is saved and we exit Revit MEP and try to reopen
our model we receive this message: "An error has occurred while drawing the
contents of this window. This window shall be closed". We select OK and a
View dialog box appears showing a list of all the views in our model. If we
highlight one or all of the views and select OK or if we select Cancel, we
receive this message: "An unrecoverable error has occurred. The program will
now be terminated. All of your data has been recently saved, so there is no
need to create recovery file."

Now we can no longer open our model. We even tried creating a new MEP model
with linking just the structural model and we get the same results.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Dennis

Did you transfer project standards before you linked in the model? After you linked it in did you copy monitor the levels and whatever else you needed? What reference type is it; overlay or attachment? What path type is it; relative or absolute? Make sure it is set to overlay and relative.

Can you re-open the model if you rename the structural .rvt file (in Windows Explorer) so Revit can't find it while opening the MEP model?

I recommend logging the issue with Product Support through Subscription Center so the issue can be properly logged and inspected by our development team. If/when you do so, note my name in the request so Product Support contacts me to take a deeper look.

Cheers-

Hi Martin,

Once I renamed the structural model, it allowed me to open our model. I will
log this issue with Product Support as you suggested.

FYI, in further testing I was able to get the structural model to work. Once
the model is linked, in the Visibility Graphics under Revit Links when I
changed the display setting from By host view to By linked view I received
the error message "To allow fill colors to display properly, the view has
been switched to hidden line mode". Then I changed the display setting from
By linked view to Custom and change the "Color fill" drop-down from
linked view> to and all works fine.

Thanks for your help,

Dennis

Ok so I have been having the same issue this week. I found that it was changing the view templates Model Display to wireframe.... changed the view templates model display back to hidden line and somehow the issue went away...
