Separate Bid Packs

I'm modeling Mechanical systems for a cancer center with several floors. They've decided that the mains (hvac, piping, plumbing) are going to be for one bid pack, and then the tenant fit-out (vav boxes, branches to rooms) for each floor will be apart of another bid pack.

The problem is that we have to show the mains in one model and then line everything up for the branches in the other models (for the various floors). Then everytime we change something in one model we have to check that it is still aligned in the other models. It's a pain to work with. Plus we've had to customize the linked models so that in the tenant fit-out models the mains are shown lighter (existing) than the branches.

We were going to try to put the mains and branches on different systems (shell and core supply, first floor supply, ect...) but you can't connect them otherwise they will switch to one system type. We can't seem to come up with a better way to approach this project scenerio....

Use Worksets and View Filters. If you place the mains and branch work on separate Worksets, then you can create a View Filter that "Grays-Out", halftones, or even turns off those elements. Then everything exists in the same model and they can be connected into the Systems.
