Performance

Hi everybody,

I use REVIT MEP 2011 on a Dell Precision T7500 equipped with two processors with 4 cores each (Intel Xeon X5570 CPU @ 2.93 GHz) and 6GB of RAM on Windows 7 (x64). I thought my problem was due to the video card (There is a lag when I move a drawing). A computer tech came to check my computer and noticed that Revit uses only one proc and one core only. Is this normal? Is there a configuration file to tell Revit to use 8 cores? Thank you very much. A a good day.

Luc

Hi

Last I heard was Revit 2011 only hyper-threaded multiple cores during Rendering. Otherwise it still only works normally from a single core. This may have changed in 2012 but not really checked it out further yet.

If however there is a way to increase this then I would be please to hear.

Oupss! I made a mistake, I have 12GB of ram instead of 6.

For 2011 only printing, rendering, and wall joining are multithreading operations. For everything else, Revit utilizes a single core.

For 2012, this list has been expanded to include loading elements into memory, computation of silhouette edge graphics, and computing the graphical representation of model elements.

At this time, there is no way enable or turn on multithreading.

The following link has more information about this.

Multithreaded Processes in Revit

Please let me know if that answers your question.

Thank you very much. So, I will investigate my graphics card. Again, thank you.
