Revit 2013 sp3 (client driven)
Windows 7 x64
We are trying to edit a combined parameter for a spare breaker. The combined parameters are Rating and Number of Poles. As a test, we added these columns individually (not combined) next to the combined parameter column and we can enter the values manually in the separate columns. However, the combined parameter value does not update based on the changes. Instead it still shows a dash (-) only that can't be changed. Is there another way to edit the rating and poles for spares so that the combined parameters reflect these values?
Thank you,

It seems that SPAREs and SPACEs will always display "--" for a combined Parameter, regardless of which Parameters are chosen. I can confirm this behavior for Revit 2014, as well. My guess would be that you should use 'Comments' for example and write what you want in it as a Text, It won't be calculated.
I am editing this post since I realized that I was mistaken and it is another issue with spares where it is been fixed. So for this issue you need to edit it manually as mentioned before.
Here is an Autodesk article that talks about it and what is the alterntive solution
This afternoon I was reviewing how we show spare breaker in panelboards and came across this post. I am wondering if anyone has had any luck figuring out how to keep using combined parameters in panelboard schedules and have the spare breakers show up correctly without separating the number of poles and rating into separate columns.
Thank you for your help.

For anyone wondering, 2022 fixed this.
Electrical Circuits
Added support for combined parameters for available spare/space parameters in a panel schedule. |
They fixed this in Revit 2022. 🙂
