Hello,
I am trying to upgrade my computer to run Revit, AutoCad MEP, PD3D and Navis, all of these are 2014 and we will be upgrading to 2015 when it comes out, without spending a boat load of money.
I want something that will last a few years without an upgrade either. We bought a Dell Precision T5600,MT,635W
But when I try to open Revit it takes a very long time and boggs down once it is open.
Do you recomend something that will will. I am tied of the wait time while saving and refreshing Navis.
Thank you
Chris
The System Requirements page shows Minimum, Value, and Performance recommendations for hardware to use with Revit.
If you compare the Minimum to the Performance recommendations, we can see what areas are going to affect performance:
From these three points we can see that RAM, Graphics Card, and CPU are important components to Revit performance. Another point which is not mentioned is the speed of the hard drive. When Revit opens a project, it is expanded into the temporary folder, and this involves a fair amount of hard drive read/writes. A solid state hard drive will noticeably improve performance when opening projects (in Revit as well as other programs).
Looking online, there are many threads (with more information) on this topic, such as the following:
