I'm using Revit MEP 2012, 2013 and Revit 2014 and have noticed that the option to maintain annotation orientation does not exist on light fixtures. I know this has been brought up before, but it's been 5 years and I've yet to see it fixed. This is of the utmost importance. We use 3 levels of graphics in our models, and the coarse setting has always been symbolic. I do electrical drawings, we use symbols. I can understand the desire to have fixtures modeled correctly, but that doesn't reflect on my construction documents. Please, get this in the software immediately. Put out a hotfix or something.
Not sure if this is what you are after, but check the blog post about how to get the symbols to display when missing the Maintain Annotation Orientation option. http://www.andekan.com/blog/2012/11/06/annotationsymbols-for-lighting-fixtures-showing-in-plan/
Hope that helps.
Best,
Jose

If you would like this behavior to change, the following link is setup for you to submit feature requests, or feedback, directly to our Development group:

I encourage you to use the feedback link as our Development group is always interested and would like to hear your feedback directly, since you are better suited to state the business case for a feature request.
Still no fix for this yet. I have made yet another Idea in hopes to get it implemented in the software.
Can we get this on the list to fix? I can't think of a single reason why annotation orientation would not be included with light fixtures, they are mounted anywhere that electrical fixtures would be.
When the OOTB content doesn't suit your needs make your own. Instead of demanding a fix, why don't you ask how others are handling this?
Apparently we have different definitions of demanding. This has been an issue for several years. There are ways around it but IMO it's an unnecessary headache.
It's only an issue for those that choose to use content that doesn't suit their needs. Control your modeling environment, don't let it control you .
