I am a fan of revit systems... I have a dream... that one day... my facility
will be an intelligent model... where ductwork and accurate schedules can
reside in the same plan...

alright... mlk I'm not... but, I still think this program bodes well for my
future and would go far to alleviate many of many of my documentation
frustrations.
the first hurdle will be to get it taught in schools, so that I can ask my
contractors to use it...

From my LUG, I've met some instructors at a local tech school, and have been
speaking with them about their curriculum. The teachers are being torn...
they know they want to teach BIM and other PEN-type programs, but, not many
companies are using programs like ABS... likely because they can't get
people who know how to use it (or existing people who aren't afraid of
change/initial loss of productivity). I believe they now teach with Inventor
in their manufacturing classes, which is a good step, but, of course, not
the one that will benefit me the most.

Almost all of our work is done by outside contractors. Some of them are
fantastic at what they do, using autocad, and with a construction schedule,
there's not time for learning and implementing a program so different from
autocad. 😞

I know I should just be patient... 😉 but, I see those guys using Revit and
they *love* it, and I want my MEP contractors to be like that, too. I'm not
even an archie and I've been hooked on Revit since I saw it at AU2003 (I
think).
