How to draw oval light fitting

Does anyone know how to create the oval light fitting shown in the attached file?

That's a good one... I don't know off the top of my head... however, I'm wondering how precise you need to have it. Could you get by cheating with an oval shaped revolve for the 3D solid, then hiding the round resulting shape in plan, and using ellipse in plan? (See attached)

Hi, Thank you for your help. I still wonder if there is another way to make a solid whose plan view is ellipse. Cathy

Recomendations are that you don't show 3D geometry in plan anyway. Besides the fact that Revit will not do at this point in time, I'd be very tempted to take the advice from Martin.

If you REALLY want an accurate 3D object of this type, model it in something else - like Inventor, and import it into your family in the adsk format.

Cheers
