How to Hide Ceiling Grid

I am using MEP 2009 with a linked Architectural model. I would like to turn off/hide the ceiling grid of my ductwork/diffuser plan so that my mechanical components show more clearly when printed. I have tried to "tab" on the grid but i am unable to select it. I have also tried to changed the color/pattern of the grid within the "materials" window but was unsucsessful as well. Can anyone offer suggestions on how they print their mechanical ductwork and diffusers without showing the ceiling grid.

Thanks in advance.

You should create another view. Your existing one is probably a mechanical Ceiling view. (which can be verified in the view properties "Default View Template")
Create another view using the mechanical plan template.

I do my layout in the Ceiling plans (with coordination as the discipline).
I tag and plot in Plan views. I find this the easiest way to operate.
