Globally turn off elements?

Is there a way to globally turn off elements in a linked file.

I have a file from an architect that contains structural steelwork that has now been superseded by the actual steelwork model from the steelwork engineer.

Is there a way to turn off the superseded steelwork in the architects model across all views or is this only achievable per view?

Unfortunately....No....the display is view dependent unless you just unload the reference....which is not what you want.

Here's my work around:

1. create a filter...in your case...all structural elements.

2. go to each view and apply the filter

3. don't even worry about overrides...just uncheck the visibility box and all the structural elements go away.

Save you from going into the Visibility Graphics box in every view.

There is a simple trick, but it will only work if both the Linked Architectural Model and your Project have Worksharing enabled, and if the Architect has a dedicated Workset for their Structural Elements. Create a new Workset in your Project that is named exactly the same as the one in the Architect's Model, and diable the "Visible in all views" option. This will shut off the elements of the corresponding Workset within the Architectural Link.

If the Architect does not have a dedicated Workset for the Structural elements, just post back here, for I may have another trick up my sleeve.

Thanks for both replies.

I have found out this morning that the Architect is going to remove the superseded steelwork from their model.

No doubt this will come up again in the future though and anyone affected can use the supplied workarounds.
