Delete duplicate entity (Model & Annotation object)

Is there any process to delete duplicate entity in Revit. The entity may be pipe or duct or any annotation text etc.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks & Regards

I am not sure but I think U can use "Purge unused", under Manage tab.

Thansk for your response.

If we copy the same entity in the same place then it will be not purge because it is used in the project. My question is how we delete the duplicate second entity.

Thanks & Regards

In that case Select the element-> right click-> select all instance in entire project, All elements belonging to that type will get selected then U can delete them, but not the type of the element.

In this case all the element will be deleted but we delete the duplicate elements.

For a example:

  • We hace created 4 nos of pipe and copied the same same in the same location.
  • Now we can delete the duplicate (4 nos entity)

So please suggest.

Thanks & Regards

If it were duplicate type then we could have deleted them all at once but, since they were copied and are of same type [most probably] U have to manually select and delete them.

We can't create any duplicate object from the type DB. Mainly we have placed the same element in same location.

For a example Pipe 6" have placed in same place in two times. Noe we delete one of the entity. In AutoCAD there is a command (overkill) which delele the duplicate element in same place.

There is no great way to address multiple instances at once, but you can locate the offending elements by going to Warning (on the Manage tab) and looking for the "There are identical instances in the same place..." messages. From the Warnings dialog, you can expand the message, select one of the listed items, and click "Delete Checked..." to remove one of them.

When we copy Pipe & Duct entity with fittings in same location we can't delete the pipe & duct where as we delete only fittings. We have attched a snap for your easy reference.

OK. Yeah, you're right, sorry. In that case, try using the Interference Report between Ducts and Ducts only, and then Pipes and Pipes only. This will help you find the locations of duplicate instances. after deleting and instance, you can go to Interference Check > Show Last Report to bring it back up quickly. There is no good way to go about this. How did so many duplicate instances get created?
