DWG file

Hello,
I am importing a AutoCAD DWG file. But I am confused because I cannot do anything with the file. I have been doing some researches and I found out that one cannot do/edit anything with DWG file. So basically, the DWG file is just used as overlays or reference, which means one must trace them over in order to draw in Revit. Is that true?

And how can one combine two DWG files into one in Revit? (suppose you have 1st floor and 2nd floor plans and you want to make 3D view as in one piece building/structure)

Thanks.

yes.

"And how can one combine two DWG files into one in Revit?"
link or import dwg into current view - first floor and Pin the DWG. then go
to the second floor view and link or import dwg into current view. add
walls to first floor by using the pick option - align the second floor DWG
to the first floor walls and Pin the DWG.
