Archicad to Revit IFC failures

We are working with RME 2012 using a model generated from an IFC file by Archicad

they can not generate ceilings so in place they create Roof Slabs.

This does not help when the ceilings (Roof Slabs) are sloped and we need to place Light fixtures on the slopped ceiling.

Is there a more efficient way to place light fixtures on a sloped surface without using reference planes?

also can you transfer reference planes from 1 project to another?

Are your Light Fixtures Face-Based? If so, are they not recognizing the sloped face as a host? You should be able to place your fixtures on any face - but I'm not certain as I have little experience with IFC files.

With both Projects open, you can Copy/Paste Reference Planes from one to the other. But since you cannot use 'Select All Instances' with Reference Planes, you may have to create a specific View in order to grab all of the ones you want.

Thank you that answered my questions.

i was able to assign the light fixtures to the sloped reference plane in my model.

I did not try to place them on the linked files surface.

i will create all my reference planes and copy them as needed

thanks again.
