2D schematics and controls

I work as a mechanical designer.  Everyone in the design team I work in still uses AutoCAD for schematics and controls.  As I'm laying out my design, I normally set the detail to "Fine" so I can take full advantage of the realism.  When I set the detail to "Course" I notice some of the symbols revert back to the universal 2D representation.. i.e.. The the check valve.  When I click on the check valve and enter the family editor, I can't seem to find the 2D representation, only the 3D.  Where are the 2Ds?  I go in to the annotations folder then mechanical but only find a select few,  I would like to find the "Course" symbols so I can layout my schematics and controls all in Revit.  I'm trying to ultimately phase out AutoCAD.

Thanks

generally speaking, you could go to the plan view in the family editor to see some model lines for 2d representation.
