2 simple problems, but I can't find the solution

Hi Folks,

When I copy a layout with a viewport in it, the lines shown in the viewport of the new copy are to a different scale. I've set global scale to 1.0, and both viewports have the same scale.

Also, when I draw a schematic line, I get yellow alerts on the end of the line. Now I know what they are for, but I want to connect one end to say a valve, the other I want to leave blank showing its going to say another drawing. How do I terminate the line to the other drawing, without getting the yellow alert?

Can anyone help? Using AutoCAD MEP 2009 on Windows Vista Ultimate.
