why am I seeing tops of components above the current cut plane?

why am I seeing tops of components above the current cut plane?

I made this custom plate W-shape for my as-built from hell and for some reason I can see the top even though it's over six feet above the cut plane.  I changed another column (a W-shape from the Imperial library) to the custom and the top is not visible.  It's cut like it should be. 

 

I should be designing by this point and I'm still as-builting this project.

In Family Editor: Modify > Family Category and Parameters >Family Parameters >Parameter > Show family pre-cut in plan views - uncheck this option > reload the family back into the prokect....you will be able to see now , the correct cut...
