parameter problems...coiling door

I created a coiling door family which has 2-1/2" metal sections that make up the door. I have drawn the lines in the interior and exterior elevation. Now, I would like to be able to change the height and width parameters (mostly just the height parameter applies to this problem) while still maintaining the 2-1/2" height of the slat sections. I know most sectional overhead doors will adjust the height of the sections and space themselves equally, but this isn't what I need to do for this door.

Can anyone tell me what parameters I can set that will keep spacing the same, but change the amount of lines to fill in the elevation of the door when i adjust the height?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried using an array?

I've put the panel lines in with the array commands but is there a way to make the modifiable array number a parameter?

Yes, when you click on one of the panels, do you see the dimension line that
appears that lists that number of arrays. Select it and at the top assign
it a parameter.

Thanks a lot for your help. I forgot to tab while I had my mouse over the number to select it to make it a parameter. Again, thanks for your help.

Actually all is not well. I've gotten the # of panels parameter all set up but I can't get the panel lines to change with the door width parameter once i've done an array. I tried setting up the original array line to lock to both sides of the opening but once its arrayed its like it forgets that stuff.

Can anyone get arrayed model lines (projection) to adjust to a width parameter?

I don't understand why you can't just lock it to the reference lines for the
door? You may have to re-lock the array to the reference lines.

The other way to do this would be to create a width parameter for the line
and set it equal to the width of the door. Width of Line = Width of Door
(or whatever you name your parameters).

The best way to create arrays is to set it up in a separate file and then
nest it in your door family. In the separate file you create all your
parameters, then when you insert it in, you select it and select properties.
Then you can reassign the panel parameters to ones in the door family. This
site has lots of example of nested families, but you'll need to take them
appart to really understand,
http://www.revitfamilyman.com/new3revitfotwpage.htm. I'd recommend the book
shelf family or even the vertical shelving.

Hope that makes sense.
