When you create a family object or edit an existing one, how can you add additional model line styles to the few options given? I'd like to create another "hidden line" where I could assign a finer line pattern.
Settings > Object Styles > Make a subcategory of your family category.

Thanks for your reply. It seems that 95% of the time solutions in Revit are pretty simple. We have been trained over the years to "overthink" problems we encounter using Autocad devising solutions more complicated than need be.
