If I might make a suggestion -
You may want to consider leaving the lineweights alone for now. Do a project
in Revit with as much out of the box lineweight / linestyle content as
possible. You'll find that it is pretty much graphically acceptable for the
most part without you having to spend much, if any time, customizing it.
Once you've done your project, have a plan review and decide if there is
anything that needs to change, and focus on just those elements.
When you do decide to what to change, you need to make the changes in your
project template(s). Go to settings and select "Lineweights". You'll find
that they are scale-dependent and you can change where the scale-breaks are.
You may need to modify your Object Styles as well, but get your lineweights
established first.

I'm a new revit user. I'm trying to comprehend Revit's lineweight control
and assignments. I would like to get a paper plot of the default
lineweights of Revit so I can determine what I need to modify them to. I
also need to refer to Revit's lineweights to be able to setup my import
lineweights. Can I draw some model lines, assign a lineweight to them and
then plot them out?
