layers don't show up as underlayment

I created my floor plan and now want to create the roof.  When I change to the Roof Plan view and select the Floor Plan to be an underlayment, the graphics of the floor plan are not visible.  Am I missing something?

• try in View Control bar to switch on  Visual Style :Wireframe....

• If you want to see the layers of the wall in underlayng I think that can not, because the underlay wall is not cut ...you see it in a projection view...
