export IFC

hi

i created new crosshead, pile and pilecap using default generic model family and then just change the catergory to my desired family.

my problem now is when i export my ifc,,, and upon checking it, they are now under generic models and not the family category i chose.

is this supposed to happen? kindly help, thanks.

using RVT13

tried: 2x3 and coordination view 2.0

tried to install exchange apps: ifc exporter for revit 2013 <-- still no change

tried to open and update my file in rvt2014 and do the export ifc there <-- still the same

whats the catch here?

im guessing you cannot use the generic model family and always use the correct family template?

Check the IFC in an IFC viewer. What IfcClass is it there?
Your problem most likely is that the export or import mapping tables aren't
set correctly (I'd check the import first).

To check the export table go to For export go to R > Export > Options > IFC
Options. Find the IfcClass your element is supposed to be in and see if the
correct import Category is set.
For import go to R > Import > Ifc Settings and do the same.

By the way: you can modify these files for your need and save them.

Kind regards

Martijn,

I just saw your older video on AU web regarding IFC exporting.

One question real quick. Do you have the experience to export Grid lines out of revit through IFC?

Thanks.
