How do I get the dormer roof to cut with the main roof?

See Opening on the Modeling tab of the Design Bar. There you will find an
option to "Pick a roof to be cut by a dormer opening"

That cuts a hole in the roof, right? What about cutting the dormer roof using the main roof as a slice?

See Join Roofs tool in the toolbar. This will "attach" a dormer to a host
roof, and make the dormer ridge extend back to the host roof forming the
valley between the dormer and host.
