curved grids with straight bits?

Hi

Is it possible to have a grid line that's curved & has a straight
extension to the end of the curve?
I've attached an image to explain clearly, not sure if it's going to appear.

If it is possible could someone please explain how to do it because I
can't work it out.

Cheers
Dave F.

Obviously not. Last bit was to say:

Thanks

1. What would be a good work-a-round?

2. Do you know if the is on the wish-list?
It quite a basic requirement.

Just make multiple grid segments the lengths you need, you'll need to label them with some sort of suffix or prefix, ie 1.a, 1.b, 1.c

OK.
Are there anything problems to watch out for or be aware of doing it
this way?
