i have - it runs nice/faster - i think (more hoping than anything) 10 will
take more advantage of the multi thread and better video cards. the
performance increases now have more to do with the other processes on the
machine not having as much impact. see-saw helps a little too sometimes.

i have a core 2 duo 2.16 ghz

and a 3.4 gz p4 650 series cpu...

the core 2 duo performance is about 40% if not higher when working...

in 3ds max ....same scene, same settings.... rendered on the p4 3.4ghz in 11 min 28 secs.... an the core 2 duo 2.16ghz 5 (FIVE) min 11 secs...

i am very pleased with core 2 duo's performance...

i have a 17 inch 2.16ghz Core 2 Duo - HP compaq nx9420... it's a superb laptop... light, powerfull, good battery life....

or maybe go for an nw8440 - the 15.4 version with fireGL.

this HP business line is very good and has the best price/performance ratio on the market.

I went with a HP nw9440. I will be spending 90 percent of my time in cad so I picked the hp over the acer The acer had a 20.1 inch screen (nice) but setup for play mostly.
I checked out the M90 (dell) but I fried my mother board and cpu on my Dell at work running some 3d.
thanks
