concrete beams

I have such a hard time with making concrete beams do what I want them to do. I know that I can create a beam as a structural framing member, but it's not quite the same.
1. I would like the beam to span from outside face of column or wall to outside face.
2. I would like the beam to be offset by my number, not a pre-set rule (outside face of beam to center of column).
3. If two intersecting beams form a 90, and a column is in-line with one and a couple inches away fron the other, I would like the beam in-line to extend beyond the 90 intersection and to rest on the column.

Is there a setting that would let me grab and move it without constraining it to the obvious and common locations?
