bi-curious ADT user

Bi-BIM that is. I am curious what you folks are up to and how you guys
work.

I am in no way, shape or form ready to seriously consider moving our firm to
the dark-side, but should keep my options open.

Personally, I would like to SEE a *.rfa as a *.dwg if anyone would be
willing to share. I would like to see how it translates, since that would
be what a consultant would need.

You can send them to paulhumphreyATgmailDOTcom.

I will peruse the NG to look for other answers/ questions.

I appreciate any feedback and anything you would be willing to share.

thanks

An RFA file is a Revit Family. I don't think that's what you're after, for exporting it to a DWG would be like me sending you a single part of a multi-view ADT block.

If you gave us a better idea of what you're looking for, then we can send you some stuff. What do you wanna know? What a 2D export from Revit looks like? a 3D? A sheet?

If you're actually wondering about Revit, just download the Demo and play with it. Or go find a Revit user in your area to talk to. Where are you at?

Also, all the Revit action is over at AUGI. www.augi.com. Go there if you really want to see a lot of stuff and get an idea of what's going on. This newsgroup doesn't see a quarter of the traffic or great things happening that AUGI does...

Is the power of the Dark Side (Revit) fulled by our hate of dong things the slow, old, and broken way (non-BIM CAD) and our pride in our excellent results? Our passion for Design and Building rather than the esoteric detatchement found in fiddling with the software and LISP instead? The demand for instant and tangible results rather than being able to do powerful things 'someday'? 😉

Wow 'the dark side' might be more tue than I thought! 😄

I kid because we just saw the movie. Besides, Yoda's my favorite, so this is all moot.

And now I am ashamed for being such a big dork. sigh...

Thanks Jedi, I mean Jeffrey, and, to be honest, I can not argue with any of
that. But, hey, if it were just me or I had limitless budget, this wouldn't
be so difficult. As it is, its all about baby steps, and my users are
pleasantly corralled to take advantage of ADT in a fairly painless manner.
We got the sweet GUI and its fairly simple to keep folks within company
standards.

I tried the AUGI NGs, and I just do not like web based NG's. They are
extremely hard to navigate efficiently, and its a little to "playful" when
looking for information. Don't get me wrong, I like looseness, but when
coming in completely ignorant, the threads are a bit distracting to my
mission 🙂

I downloaded revit some time back, and realized how engrained ACAD is in me.
I will need training, plain and simple, and would rather get the basics than
develop a bunch of bad habits. Maybe I should I look again, but wanted to
take it a little slower and simply look at some examples of Revit producing
DWG's.

A 2d, 3d and sheet would be ideal.

Thanks again

Hey no sweat. Just trying to point you in the right direction.

OK. How big of e-mails can you get? the 3D models tend to be big. I'll send you some stuff I got.
