applying a key note to a 2D line

hi,

i'd like to add key notes to dashed lines overhead which are drawn in 2D on my plans. can i tag a line? or how would i create a symbol that had a leader and editable text?

thanks.

It is a soffit above that I want to be dashed on the plan and I'd like to call out all my notes as key notes.

Don't know if this is possible or if I should just use text and a leader.

Can I create my own symbols and attach leaders to them?

not real familiar with keynoting yet but i think you can keynote a 2-pick
family by material?? (i will copy my friend mark, he is more familiar with
keynoting)
or you could just tag a 2-pick - (we modified some of the stock tag families
to get the look we needed and a leader can be selected on the options bar
when placed)
or you could do a refleted ceiling plan to show the modeled soffit.

so many options:)
hope this helps.

You can place a User Keynote with a Free End to call out any keynote to any
object, part of an object, drafting item, etc regardless of the object's
family keynote. Use that to keynote detail lines or layers of wall
construction individually, etc.

I think you can assign a leader to a symbol, but you don't really have
control over its base point. We use a symbol for welds and draft in the
leader because the base point does not connect to the symbol where we want
it.
