Have a residential project done in Revit 2013 and looking for a way for the enigineer (outside office) to be able to sync with the central file from his office without giving him too much access to my server. Been searching through here and haven't found any ways to do this. We are still new with the software so still learning.
Is there a way to do this?

Well - my first question is what part does this person play.
Do they need a directly work in your model - or can they create their own model and link in your model into theirs and work like that?
Now you may have already thought of this but just throwing out ideas here.
There is a revit server option - I have not used it much - but it worked between offices in CA and MI. So it is something you can look into.
The other office is the engineer, so he'd need some access.
Haven't looked at the server option
You could set up a VPN tunnel from the Consultant's Server to your server, with a Trust Relationship established between the two Domains.
Then install Revit Server at each office. Make yours the Host; his an Accellerator (or if using Revit 2012 a Local Server ).
This takes some fairly good IT knowhow--but it is one of the best ways to collaborate between offices.
Revit Server software is free--comes with the Revit Software.
Of course you could also just use the good old FTP site route and post models and reload links....
Haven't had much luck with the Revit server. Could you explain the "Of course you could also just use the good old FTP site route and post models and reload links...."
Use an FTP site for periodic (say once a week) posting of models.
Use Detach from Central, Save-As, then post your model to the FTP site. The Consultant downloads and Links into his using Shared Coordinates. This is the defacto routine for most offices and outside consultants, until Revit Server
or the Cloud becomes more prevalent.
