Wall Types and Code Plans

Hi, I am trying to learn more about walls, and I was wondering if it's possible to have an object reside within a wall type (a rated wall type) whose visibility can be controlled independently of the rest of the wall. Imagine a layer in CAD that can be turned on for a Code Compliance plan, but that can be turned off for other views. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
