There is a Revit User Group serving the Chicagoland area, started last October of 2003. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at the offices of ADTech/Safari Systems located at 524 Busse Highway in Park Ridge, IL at 7:00pm. You can contact melarch@ameritech.net for any additional information regarding the Revit User Group and if interested, get put on our mailing list.
Also, Moraine Valley Community College, located in Palos Hills, IL, a suburb about 40 minutes southwest of Chicago holds a free, hands-on, all-day class called Introduction to Revit. Contact Sandy Rizzo (Rizzo, Sandy [Rizzo@morainevalley.edu]) for a scheduled of dates. In addition, Moraine Valley has scheduled classes for both beginning and advanced classes on Revit.
