Upgrade file from 2013 to 2014: unrecoverable error

I have a relatively small model (20MB) that is causing R2014 to crash during the upgrade process. I have stripped out any extra views, model elements materials etc. and purged until there's nothing extra left. Checking the journal after the crash didn't yield any corrupt object ID's that I could select and delete from the 2013 file. the one ID that seems to be causing the problem "can't be selected in this mode" when I try to select by ID.

Below is the section of journal from the file upgrade lines through the crash:

If the element ID of the problematic element (2602633) can't be selected through the UI, try taking a copy of the project, and remove everything from it (including all views except for the default 3D view, and all of the model geometry). If the emptied project can be upgraded, you should be able to narrow down the specific element or elements causing the error during the upgrade process.
