Underlay - Sketched Ceiling 'hiding' plan

I would like to use the underlay function to see the second floor on my first floor plan.

When I underlay the second floor plan, only items above the 2nd floor ceiling show up. When I delete the second floor ceiling, I can see everything on the 2nd floor, so it is not a view depth problem.

I created the 2nd floor ceiling as a footprint around the periphery of the building, as a sketch. When I delete this ceiling, and add "automatic ceilings" by room selection, the overlay function works perfectly fine and I can see everything on the 2nd floor.

Why is a sketched ceiling hiding everything below it?
