Tutorial

I am at the point in the tutorial that I need to open a training file (Training file\Imperial\i_Cohouse.rvt). As it begins to open, I get a message that it is being "upgraded to the latest file format". Then a message that an unrecoverable error has occured pops up and the whole program shuts down. What's going on? This happens no matter which file I try to open in Training\Imperial

Did you download the training files from this location:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=11091739

About 1/2 way down the page is a series of 4 ZIP files. This contains all
of the training files needed for the tutorials.

Those were downloaded and I can see them listed, but get that error update message and subsequent error message when I try to open it.

It should not be giving you the "upgrading to latest file format" message
when opening. This makes me think you are somehow not opening the files you
downloaded in the ZIP files.

I would try deleting the training folder on your system. Then download and
Un-Zip the files from the link I gave and try again.

Are these newer than the ones on the DVD? I get the "upgraded to the latest
file format" message when using the ones from the 2009 install.

Yes the ones on the install are old and actually are not a complete set of
data files for the tutorials. The most up to date files are from the
download link I posted.

Hello Jeff, I downloaded the Zipped Tutorial Training Files from the Link stated by you, But this file is still missing [Imperial\i_Freighthouse_Flats-Creating Views.rvt.]
in "Documenting your Project > Duplicating Plan View" Training Tutorial Section.

I just downloaded the files and un-zipped to verify. The file you are
looking for is in the 4th ZIP file. Try downloading and unzipping again to
see if you find the file.

Thanks Jeff, file is in 4th Zipped Folder. Me too unZip the folder and file is there.

Do u know about these things: -

Do the following PC resources r enough for Modeling and Rendering Models in RAC 2009 with Mental Ray?

CPU = Pentium D - 3.40 Ghz.
RAM = 2GB
Mother Board = Intel 946 GZ Express Chipset Family
Graphic Card - On Mother Board.

While Modeling in RAC 2009, it utilize RAM only UPTO 400 or 500 MB. My query is that When will RAC 2009 will use the remaining 1.50 GB RAM?. I doubt that it can access only up to 400 or 500 MB RAM, Coz I never seen it utilizing More than this in Task Manager.

Is there any switch exist in the Motherboard or In BIOS, which can allow Autocad Arch to access more than 400, 500. Also Do u know how to Update BIOS?

The PC will run Revit OK but not great. There is not enough RAM. The OS is
goign to take up 800mb Then the integrated graphics card will take some
additional memory, leaving what is left for applications (probably 1gb at
best). Now if you run more than 1 application memory will get divided even
further. Leaving not a lot for Revit to work with.

I would sugget getting a deticated video card (simple, no need for high end
card) and adding an additional 2gb of RAM.

Thanks, Ur suggestion is convincing but.
I m using XP and I think u r talking about Windows Vista, which take up around 800 MB Alone. I have on board Graphic Card of Intel. Well Revit can support ONLY UPTO 3 GB RAM, How it can use additional 1 GB RAM (when Total RAM is 4 GB). I think u r talking about additional RAM for smooth running of other Programs.

But I want to tell u that while Revit and other 2 or 3 programs r running, Total Memory utilization is only UPTO 450-500 MB (In Task Manager). Can u tell me that when will remaining 1.50 GB RAM can be utilized?
